and I followed him up the mountain, alone.
In June 2020, in Dali,
I entered an athlete’s life completely for the first time.
No crew, no assistant — just two people and one mountain.
The morning wind still carries the chill,
and he is already running along the ridge.
I follow behind, recording the way he breathes.
He would stop at the summit,
watching the clouds, drinking water, saying ordinary things.
Those moments are truer than any race.
It took me years to understand:
what I filmed on that mountain was not just training —
it was a time I can never go back to.
